Who We Are
Newbridge Church traces its roots back to 1979, when God called a group from California’s Jesus Movement to plant a church in Wheeling. Originally known as The Vineyard Church, it was marked by a focus on the life-changing experience of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ—emphasizing authenticity, simplicity, and a vibrant community that pointed a generation toward Jesus.
Today, we carry on that same legacy. We do this through weekly worship, biblical preaching, and the intentional building of community through events and life groups.
Our mission is simple: to help people find and follow God.
Our Values
What We Believe
-
We believe that there is one Living and True God, eternally existing in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all.
Scripture: Genesis 1:1, Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 45:21-22, Matthew 28:19, Colossians 1:16, 1 Corinthians 8:6
-
We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired without error in the original manuscripts, and the infallible rule of faith and practice.
Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:21, John 10:35
-
We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
Scripture: Deuteronomy 33:27; Psalms 90:2; Psalms 102:27; John 3:16 and 4:24; 1 Timothy 1:17; Titus 1:3
-
We believe that Jesus Christ is God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and His personal visible return to earth.
Scripture: John 1:1, 14, Matthew 1:18-25, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Peter 3:18, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Hebrews 10:12-13
-
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ; we believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding Helper, Teacher and Guide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all the Biblical gifts of the Spirit.
Scripture: John 14:16-17, John 16:7-11, Titus 3:5-6, Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Ephesians 1:13-14, Acts 1:8, Romans 12:6-8, 1 Corinthians 12-14, 1 Peter 4:10-11
-
We believe that all men are sinners by nature and choice and are therefore under condemnation; and that God regenerates by the Holy Spirit those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord.
Scripture: Romans 3:10, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:18-19, Matthew 1:21, 1 John 4:14, John 14:6, Acts 4:12, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9
-
We believe in the universal Church, the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are members.
Scripture: John 17:20-21, Ephesians 4:3-6, 1 Corinthians 3:16-17, Matthew 16:17-18
-
We believe in the personal, visible appearing of Christ to each believer and the consummation of His Kingdom, in the resurrection of the body and the final judgment open to all believers.
Scripture: Revelation 21-22, Acts 1:11
-
We believe also in the laying on of hands for the empowering of the Holy Spirit, for ordination of pastors, elders and deacons, for receiving gifts of the Spirit, and for healing.
Scripture: Acts 1:8, Acts 2:1-4, 1 Corinthians 12:13, 1 Corinthians 12:4-7, John 14:16-17
-
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ committed two ordinances to the church: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe in baptism by immersion and communion open to all believers.
Scripture: Matthew 28:19-20, Matthew 26:26-28, 1 Corinthians 11:23-25, Romans 6:3-4, Acts 8:36-39
-
We believe in what is termed “The Apostles Creed” as embodying fundamental facts of Christian faith.
The Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
He descended into hell.
The third day He rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there He will come to judge the living and the dead.I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy universal church,
the communion of the saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
